North American Walnut Description
Juglans Nigra

NA Walnut: aka Black Walnut. Found throughout the Eastern US and Ontario.

Colour: Heartwood ranges from deep rich dark brown to a purplish black. Sapwood ranges from white to tan.

Grain: Mostly straight open grain with some burl and curly grain.

Janka Hardness: 1010 lbs of dent resistance…22 % softer than Red Oak.

Finishing: Finishes well with deep, rich, dark color.

Notes: Walnut will fade over time with exposure to UV light.
